FAQS About Children!

Why do children want to play an instrument?

They're kids - That's why! They're doing what they are programmed to do - finding out they're likes and dislikes by being inquisitive and experimental. Those who continue with music do so because they are having a "fun" experience - part of which is the comradery experienced with the circle of band member friends. But - let's face it - not all who take up a musical instrument are going to go on to be musicians. As a parent you're probably thinking this may not be long term. You want to support your child with the best possible instrument but from an economic standpoint are reluctant to put much cash into this project.

FAQ: 95% of new music students continue through the school year.

FAQ: Rental instruments are usually used.

Formula for Decision:

1) Multiply the Monthly Rent by 10

2) Compare that number to the cost of an instrument that can currently be purchased at a sale price.

Example: Mtly Rent: $25 (x 10) = $250.00 (cost of school year). Purchasing a NEW instrument around the $250 range purchasing is your answer.

  • Even your child stops playing after the 1st year the instrument can always be sold - usually for a minimum of 1/2 of what you paid.
  • If you paid $300 for a new instrument you can advertize the instrument as "almost new".
  • You're child will have had a new instrument to play and you effectively have paid $15 a month rent for a NEW instrument - not a USED one.
